Monitoring
Having a quiet and focused monitoring environment is critical to making a correct mix. We monitor on mid-size, large-format and headphones for correct sounding mixes in any playback. We're set up for surround too if needed.
Mics & Pres
The microphone and the pre-amp are the most critical elements in producing that perfect sound. We have the right microphones for the right applications, from Neumann, AKG, Blue, Shure, Sony, to name a few. We've got some really nice ribbon mics and boutique microphones too. It's all about finding the right one for your application, especially when it comes to vocal micrphones.
We use Universal Audio Mic Pres as well as Mackie Onyx pres.
Live Drums
Isolating drums (and vocals) can be a critical element in capturing the energy of a performance. Getting these sounds right means having a nice live room with well-formed acoustics and no interruptions from outside sources. We've got three different rooms for getting those sounds exactly right.
Retro/Modern/Classic
Sometimes you want vintage, sometimes you want modern, sometimes you want modern emulating vintage. Sometimes you want to mix them. Here versatility is key - a classic ribbon on the voice, an AKG on the vibraphone, and a set of programmed loops for drums. Putting it all together with an absolutely pristine signal path makes recording fun.
Electronic
With a wide range of sequencers (logic, reason, abelton) and huge library of sounds and loops (just, well, lots of 'em), it's all about what you can imagine.
Ashland
Ashland is where convergence happens. Country, city, rock, blues, jazz, bluegrass, classical, electronic, modern, primitive, all. A great place to visit, a great place to stay, a great place to create.
Producing & Engineering
A qualified engineer is booked with every studio engagement. If you'd like to bring your own engineer, they'll have to be qualified on the equipment in question and will still require the presence of our house engineer.

Arranging & Scoring
If you've got music or songs or a screenplay or lyrics or -just some idea of how it should go- but not the instrumentation to make it happen, we can draw from a wide range of excellent local musicians and composers to make your vision a reality in any musical style.
